Please call your Senators today and urge them to immediately pass
an equivalent of the House's H.R 4437 and then, and ONLY then,
take their time to discuss selective amnesty, if any.

Marches Around the World

The hot topic of illegal immigration legislation has inspired massive protest marches by illegal aliens
and their supporters trying to secure privileges (including a legal path to citizenship)
not lawfully theirs, but routinely available to (and paid for by) tax-paying citizens.

In many countries, illegal aliens call this strict legislative attitude racist and unfair.
To illustrate this world-wide phenomonon, here is a representative gallery.

In Zurich, Switzerland, where legal immigrants must buy a house valued at over $1,000,000 in order to permanantly reside in this beautiful country, Americans form a mass gathering in this narrow strasse,  protesting that only American movie stars and business moguls can afford to immigrate to Switzerland.

In Geneva, irate American illegal aliens block traffic,
demanding subsidized ski lift tickets and ski lessons
by internationally-renowned Swiss ski instructors.

Just as in Switzerland, a small fortune is required to purchase a home in Bermuda
before one is considered for legal residency. Note the large American rabble
on this pristine beach demonstrating for affordable immigrant housing.

In neighboring Canada,  throngs of American illegals
march for free medical care and free ice hockey lessons.

On the other hand ...

In Los Angeles, California, illegal aliens and their supporters express their outrage that they
are called "illegal" just because they entered our sovereign country without permission.
They are also demanding (AND GETTING!) driver's licenses (the better to board airplanes),
bank mortgages (which normally require a Soc. Sec. number), free public schooling,
free medical care, IN-STATE COLLEGE TUITION (I'm not joking), etc., etc.
Oh, and they also now want legalized residency status, leading to citizenship.

Anabel Chavarria, 17, waves a Mexican flag as she joins demonstrators gathered to protest federal immigration legislation in front of City Hall in Los Angeles, Saturday March 25, 2006. The U.S. House of Represenatives passed a bill that would make it a felony to be in the U.S. illegally, impose new penalties on employers who hire illegal immigrants and erect fences along one-third of the U.S.-Mexican border. The Senate is to begin debating the proposals on Tuesday. (AP Photo/Ann Johansson)

And worst of all, a proud young American girl of Mexican heritage,

VERBAL CARTOON

Visualize the Ship of State sinking because of a leak in the hull.
The House has suggested that we plug the leak.

The Senate is considering how much of the incoming seawater can be declared to be cargo,
thereby assuring the citizen crew that no leak exists.

And when a great white shark swims in, the Senate declares that the ship is now an aquarium.
??????????

If this bothers you, why not call both of your US Senators
and tell them to support a Senate equivalent of H.R. 4437,
which provides for enforcement of our laws with no amnesty.

Just call (toll free) 1-866-340-9281
and ask for your Senator's office.
This is the Capitol switchboard, so you can also ask for your Representative

If you are having trouble getting through the Capitol switchboard
there's a special hotline number you might like to try.
It's the Coalition for Comprehensive Immigration Reform.
so put up with the propaganda and use their dime to call your Senator!

Two suggested talking points:

1. Remember the Great Experiment in blanket amnesty of 1986? President Reagan was convinced to give amnesty to about 2 million illegal aliens in return for securing the border. Well, that certainly worked out well! We now have well over 11 million illegal aliens and the border is absolute mayhem!!

Amnesty only encourges more illegal immigration!

2. IF (and only if) the border is REALLY sealed and illegal immigration laws are enforced, then we can reward those who wait in line and are willing to obey our laws by considering increasing the legal immigration quota from Mexico and other countries. We can even provide American flags in which to wrap themselves, contrary to the example of Ms.
Chavarria pictured above.

Amnesty or not, that is the question

The President and the Senate want you to believe that this is not amnesty:
If an illegal alien has been breaking our immigration laws for over 2 years, he or she will not have to leave the country,
but will be REWARDED with a driver's license, medicare, free public education, in-state college tuition, etc., etc., and
only have to pay back taxes for 3 of the last 5 years (forget the years earlier than 5 years ago!).
Oh, and if the illegal had used a fake Social Security number in order to pay taxes, normally a $250,000 fine, no problem!
And if the illegal had stolen someone else's ID (a FELONY!!) to pay taxes, no problem!
The "legalized" alien will then be able to buy his citizenship for a $3000 "fine."

The President is right, this is NOT amnesty. It is a giant giveaway of the privileges reserved for
American citizen-taxpayers and the sale of cherished American citizenship for a measley $3000.

Source: Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary (1913)

Amnesty \Am"nes*ty\, n. [L. amnestia, Gr. ?, a forgetting, fr. ?
forgotten, forgetful; 'a priv. + ? to remember: cf. F.
amnistie, earlier amnestie. See Mean, v.]
1. Forgetfulness; cessation of remembrance of wrong;
oblivion.

2. An act of the sovereign power granting oblivion, or a
general pardon, for a past offense, as to subjects
concerned in an insurrection.

From the recent Zogby poll of American citizens, who get to vote:

Republicans – 62% favor the House bill, and only 22% favor the Senate amnesty bill. (13% want mass deportations of illegal aliens!)
Democrats – 50% favor the House bill, and only 36% favor the Senate amnesty bill. (11% want mass deportation of illegal aliens!)

See who is ignoring the constitution and their constituents:

Republican House members voted 203 to 17 against any amnesty or guest worker program.
Republican Senators voted 32 to 23 against amnesty and guest worker features, and hence, the entire Senate bill.
Therefore the combined House and Senate Republican vote was 235 to 40 AGAINST amnesty and the President's plan.

Democrats voted a combined 202 to 40 to side WITH the President's plan.

This is a stunning comparison:  Republicans voted a combined 235 to 40 AGAINST amnesty.
Democrats (and the President!) voted a combined 203 to 40 FOR amnesty.

The truth about who wanted a felony as a "poison pill" in H.R.4437.
The supporters of the illegal alien marches are protesting a provision voted in
by the Democrats!

Democrats voted 191 to 8 to RETAIN 'felony' in 4437.
Republicans (including Sensenbrenner!) voted 156 to 65 to REMOVE 'felony' from 4437.
